The day-to-day happenings of beautiful twin girls

Twirling

Dear Sophie,
Last Sunday I was getting you dressed for church.  I put you in one of Lucy's hand-me-down dresses - green with pink vertical stripes and a lovely little pink ribbon, and said, "Oh, what a pretty dress...you're such a pretty girl" as I put you onto the floor from the changing table.  And then you did the sweetest thing - you twirled.  We dance a lot, and I just taught you "Ring Around the Rosie" but I have never taught you the correlation between pretty dresses and twirling.  That, my darling who wears stacking rings for bracelets and hair ties for rings, is your instinct.  You were so cute, because you are still not completely steady on your feet, so the twirling was slow and careful.  The smile on your face was priceless.
I love it.
Love, Mama

First, I LOVE that you wrote a letter as a post. I have already decided that I am going to write letters to my kids (as blog posts)... when I have kids. Second, have you read Captivating and/or Wild at Heart? Twirling is John Elderidge's (sp?) favorite way to illustrate how women (by God's design) desire to be cherished and loved. Little girls put on pretty dresses and twirl, saying, "Daddy, don't you think I'm beautiful?" He goes on to say that as women get older/are mistreated/jaded/whatever they stop twirling because they believe that they aren't deeply loved by God/their dad/their husband. He makes the point again and again that dads and husbands need to pay attention and respond with, "yes, I see you. Yes, I love you. Yes, I think you are the most beautiful girl in the world!"
